It’s been a while since I wrote anything for the blog, so apologies for keeping you waiting for an update! Something about the aftermath of a LASBM conference inspires me to turn to my keyboard with renewed vigour; perhaps it’s because the pressure is off and I have time to reflect. So once again, I am proud to report that we had a very successful event this week at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel. We had a record number of 120 business management delegates and, for the first time, we also had 10 governors who accompanied their school business managers to the event.
Delegate feedback to date has been very positive, with two of the most popular sessions being HCSS Chief Executive Howard Jackson’s strategic financial planning workshop and a stress management session delivered by Frances Taylor of brightspark training Ltd. For the second time we also had our quick-pitch sponsor presentations, which proved to be a hit. Feedback from delegates shows this to be a winner, as they get a little taste of what’s on offer from a variety of companies. Our Q & A expert panel kept us informed and entertained as they responded to questions on employment law, governance, finance, academies, H & S and premises. This was extremely popular, with requests already received for a longer session next time. Browne Jacobson provided a legal and HR surgery throughout the day, offering one-to-one advice in response to delegates’ requests and we had a wide variety of sponsor companies exhibiting their wares, including our very own website providers, FSE. Our next conference will be held on 10 June at the same venue and we look forward to welcoming delegates, sponsors and speakers. We are currently at the early planning stages, but will give you details of the programme and booking details in a few weeks.
If any of the LASBM group would like to write for the blog please let me know via the website contact form. It would be good to have contributions from other colleagues.
