Yet again, my thoughts have turned to blogging after another successful event. We held our LASBM June conference at The Dunkenhalgh Hotel this week and feedback to date is once again looking extremely positive. The programme included popular presentations from Lancashire County Council’s Jeanette Whitham, HR Services Manager (Schools) and Neil Smith, Financial Services Manager. Also featured were Schools Buying Club, who gave hints and tips on procurement, and Forbes Solicitors with their ‘10 Top Legal Tips for the Education Sector’. One of the highlights was a presentation skills workshop provided by Christine Burn of the Lunchbox Theatre Company, which left delegates feeling entertained and inspired. Comments from sponsors on the day were overwhelmingly complimentary, with several remarking that our conferences are the best they attend. Planning is underway for our next event on 14 October, when we look forward to seeing lots of our members again.
On other matters, I am delighted to report that the LASBM online community, launched at the end of March, is proving to be extremely successful. We already have over 260 members on the site, many of whom have used the forum to share information and good practice. The online community also provides a great opportunity for our sponsors to post their company information and to interact with members. Any companies interested in finding out more about this or any of our other sponsorship options should see our brochure for details. We also look forward to welcoming new members, both current and aspiring school business managers, to the site. For your free two-week trial register on www.lasbm.com/members.
